It's typically best if you can call ahead (773-682-7725) to let us know when you're thinking of stopping in so that we can make sure someone (a qualified purchaser) is here to purchase them from you.

What type of records do you buy?

We're mostly interested in LPs, EPs, 45s. On occasion we will buy cassettes, CDs and 8 tracks. We don't carry 78s.

​How much do you pay?

There are many factors that would lead us to pay more or less for any particular record. If you have a selection of albums that meet our criteria you will be offered the most reasonable amount possible for both of us, bearing in mind our need to resell. Iconic artists Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, Prince, David Bowie...etc, will be offered higher prices than Elton John, Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, and the like. Nothing against them, of course. It's all about customer demand and how much of an album we already have in overstock.

We do not accept albums in poor condition. Such as:
- Extensive water damage
- Mold and rot on covers
- Scratched beyond repair

We do accept albums in:
- Fair (some scratches, plays through, cover is split seamed or otherwise in worn condition)
- Good 
- VG
- VG+
- Near Mint
- Mint

How do you clean the records you sell in the store?

What's the best way to clean records?

People tend to have a slightly different way of cleaning and what works for them. We suggest checking out https://www.yoursoundmatters.com/vinyl-faq/ for an in-depth look at all things vinyl. All we can say for sure is, NO SOAP AND TAP WATER. The residue left behind from the minerals in the water and the stickiness from the soap will make your vinyl streaky. You wouldn't wash your windows with dish soap, would you?

Why are albums released between 1988-1995 so hard to find on vinyl?

Simply put, the rise and popularity of CDs. Record labels knew the money was no longer in printing vinyl in mass quantity (or at all) and relied on CD and cassette sales. Nowadays, nearly any album you can think of can or has been reissued on vinyl, but there are some titles that are elusive. For example, it's rare to find an original 1994 LP release of Soundgarden's Superunknown because of supply and demand. If you happen to have one in your collection, lucky you!
